Traffic in the Kern area will see intermittent lane closures at the intersection of Rim Road and El Paso Street as part of an intersection improvement project that will continue through November 2016.

The work for the intersection improvement project includes:

  • Street resurfacing
  • New curb extensions
  • New striping and signage
  • New landscaping
  • Reconstructed curb ramps and sidewalks that are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The City of El Paso asks the public to take alternate routes, if possible, during the construction period. Appropriate signage will be in place throughout the duration of the project to direct the traveling public. The construction schedule may be altered due to weather or other unforeseen events.

The intersection improvement project should be completed by the end of November and is intended to bolster pedestrian safety in the area. The improvements are estimated at approximately $50,000 and are being funded by the Las Palmas Medical Center.
