Ok, so things are slowly but surely getting back to normal, but there is a lot of anger out there, and to be honest with you, I think you need to tell the people who were in charge exactly how hacked off you are!  Here is a list of officials with the City, the County, El Paso Electric, and El Paso Water Utilities.....

We fielded a lot of phone calls after we played a clip of Mayor Cook being glib and asking what we, the citizens of El Paso wanted him to do, fix the pipes?  I voted for the man twice and I really like him as both a Mayor and a person, but when you are an elected official, unless there is a death in the family, your place during a major disaster is in your office.  The Mayor said he didn't want to cancel his plans because they had been made months in advance.  I understand that, and if the weather hadn't interfered in such a gigantic way, there would have been no problem with him being gone.  But when huge swaths of the city were dark and without water, when people were huddled freezing in their homes, when food and water were selling out at grocery stores, when schools were being forced to close for four days, when people, businesses, and even government offices were dealing with burst pipes, yes, it's a BIG problem for our Mayor to be out of town.

That's why we decided to get addresses out to our listeners.  Make copies of your bills and stuff them in an envelope.  Mail them to the Mayor, the Electric Company, the Water Utility, the County.  Let them know what you are dealing with because they did not do their jobs.  Vent a little, that's what they're there for.  You elected them, you pay them with your tax dollars, they are your employees.  EPE and EPWU are going to go about their business of taking your money for a service they provide, but will they learn any lesson from this?  Doubtful.  But make them take some time out of their busy day deciding how to make their shareholders wealthier, the same shareholders who got dividends last quarter from 60 MILLION DOLLARS IN PROFITS.  A quarter is 3 MONTHS!  They MADE 60 MILLION DOLLARS IN PROFIT in 3 months.  Are they going to use that to help offset the cost of damage to your home?  Doubtful.

Pick up a pen, make some copies, lick a stamp and let your elected officials and utility officials know exactly how you feel!
