A threat made against Parkland High School over the weekend has been handled, according to YISD officials.

Video of a teen with his face covered and waving around what appears to be a plastic gun was shared on social media Monday (Oct. 23), leaving many parents of Parkland High School students fearful for their child’s safety.

The 15 second profanity-laced clip alluded to a shooter-type situation and seemed to be warning friends of the teen to not “come to school tomorrow.”

Several parents raised their concerns via the YISD Facebook page. The school district posted the following reply:

“Ysleta ISD takes every potential threat to our students and schools seriously. This alleged threat to Parkland HS was meant for today, Monday, October 23. Administration has handled the situation. Classes at Parkland HS will resume as normal tomorrow October 24. Please contact us tomorrow if you have further questions. Thank you."

It is not known what they meant by “administration has handled the situation.” No further comment has been issued.
