Taste of El Paso is just around the corner and this is one of the best events, especially for food lovers like me. This week, I was able to go to a couple of the restaurants that will be serving food at this year's Taste of El Paso, happening Nov. 12 at the El Paso Convention Center.

I adore a good craft beer and if you need a great place on the westside, look no further than The Hoppy Monk. Not only is their beer selection one of the best in El Paso, but the food isn't that typical bar food. The good folks at The Hoppy Monk want to give you a culinary experience you wouldn't get at a normal bar.

We were able to sample the Aguachile Popcorn Shrimp. This traditional Mexican dish is given a twist with toasted tortilla oil and Serrano peppers added to give it a unique flavor. The dish is topped off with freshly popped popcorn. The flavor was filling but light at the same time and something I had never had before!
