The Gene Roddenberry Planetarium is hosting a free event this week. The Planetarium Coalition is teaming up with Sun City Astronomers, the EPCC Astronomy Club, and the Gene Roddenberry Planetarium for a first come, first served the indoor show. You can also check out the cosmos with telescopes set up outside for a close-up glimpse of the full moon. Bring lawn chairs, grab some grub at food trucks that will be at the event, and get ready for some family fun.

If you don't know about the Planetarium Coalition, it is a non-profit organization that is working to raise funds to keep El Paso's only Planetarium alive. The Planetarium used to have a space at the El Paso Independent School District offices, but it is now on its own, so events like this are important to remind residents what a gem it is.

The El Paso Herald-Post is a proud sponsor and supporter of both the planetarium and the Planetarium Coalition. If you want to know what is going on with the Planetarium, you can check their website and Facebook page for upcoming events.

Let's keep the planetarium alive!
