There has been a lot of controversy over the Shawver Park lights display that was pushed through El Paso City Council by City Rep. Eddie Holguin.  Holguin was warned that it was too late to put on a good display, but he called City Manager Joyce Wilson and City Reps 'grinches' when they said it would be best to wait until next year to put together a good display.  Ultimately, he got his lights.  W

What happens when the country and the national media laugh at your holiday lights extravaganza?  If you're City Rep. and County Judge wannabe Eddie Holguin, you hold a news conference to clarify and answer questions about the Shawver Park Christmas lights display.

The Grinch’s heart grew 3 times at Tuesday’s El Paso City Council meeting.  City Rep. Eddie Holguin will get his 25 thousand dollar Christmas lights display in the Lower Valley.  But I have a few questions about why he wanted to do an alternate lights display this year, and a few suggestions for the illustrious Mr. Holguin about next year’s holiday lights display….

City Rep. Eddie Holguin demanded yesterday that Paul Foster and Josh Hunt guarantee the 12 million dollars for their part of the ballpark build. For a while now, we've been getting dribs and drabs of 'mean girl' type emails written by various local city government officials, primarily City Manager Joyce Wilson.  The press has been panting over what a meanie Ms. Wilson is, but I think it's time for everyone to grow up and get over themselves.

I wrote blog about City Reps Emma Acosta - my city rep - and Eddie Holguin when they said that artwork that will be installed along the Alameda rapid transit corridor is offensive to Hispanics and they don't want to see it installed.  Now, they want City Council to fire the Seattle-based artists who developed the "offensive" art.
