UTEP remains the only Texas college basketball team with an NCAA championship. That title was won on March 19, 1966, by the legendary Coach Don Haskins and the team of five black players when UTEP was called Texas Western. That win, and Haskins career here in El Paso, made this a college basketball city. When UTEP hired Haskins disciple, Tim FLoyd, hopes were raised that maybe UTEP could win another NCAA title. Whether or not they can do that remains to be seen, but after last night's victory over Tulane, and UTEP's tie for first place in Conference USA, could the NCAA Tournament once again be within the Miner's reach?
