Margot Kidder, the actress who portrayed the lead role of Lois Lane alongside Christopher Reeve, has passed away at the age of 69.

Margot Kidder whose film and TV career spanned for several decades included her famous role as Lois Lane in the classic Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve, has passed away at the age of 69 in her Montana home.

Kidder gained popularity after portraying Lois Lane in all of the four Superman franchise movies from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Apart from being an actress, she was also an anti-war, environmental and political advocate. She also became an advocate for mental health after she suffered a mental breakdown in the mid ‘90s after suffering from bouts of depression due to addiction and bipolar disorder.

No cause of death was revealed at the time of her passing.
