The Sunland Park Police Department is looking for a woman who kidnapped her niece Sunday morning.

A spokesperson with the Sunland Park Police Department said 3 year old Victoria Rodriguez was taken from her father's home on Anapra Road and Carlos Aguire Court. SPPD says Victoria's aunt, 31-year-old Natalia Figueroa, broke into her father's home and took her. Sunland Park Police say there was a cousin also helped in the kidnapping but did not release the cousin's name.

Victoria was in the care of her father at the time she was kidnapped by Figueroa, but officials say the girl's aunt also took care of her before for about six months.

Sunland Park Police say they were in contact with New Mexico State Police to issue an Amber Alert, but the case did not qualify for one. There is no word on why this case did not qualify as an Amber Alert. SPPD is working with U.S Customs and Border Protection to locate Victoria and her aunt.
