The halftime entertainment for the Hyundai Sun Bowl has been announced. A former Las Cruces Police Officer will be taking the field on Friday, December 29 to belt out some country tunes for the crowd. Frank Gomez, who goes by the stage name of Frank Ray, has been named one of the "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know" by Rolling Stone magazine.

KTSM says Gomez left the Las Cruces Police Department earlier this year after ten years of service in order to try his hand at a music career. Sun Bowl officials say they're happy about having another regional up-and-coming star from the Borderland as part of their game day lineup.

Gomez released his first solo EP 'Different Kind of Country' earlier this year.

If you are planning on attending the 2017 Hyundai Sun Bowl, kickoff will be at 1 p.m. at the Sun Bowl Stadium between the Arizona State Sun Devils and NC State Wolfpack. You can get tickets by calling the Sun Bowl Association office at (915) 533-4416.
