Sun Bowl Drive Project Has Begun Affecting Traffic For The Next Year

Two separate road construction sites are underway at Sun Bowl Drive and at the Yandell overpass near Paisano Drive.

The Texas Department of Transportation will be widening Sun Bowl Drive to four lanes and completely removing the Yandell Drive overpass which will be replaced with a bridge over I-10, connecting Schuster Avenue to Paisano.

Both these projects will have an impact on traffic, especially those of you attending UTEP, so TXDOT will set detours in place to help navigate through the construction.

The Sun Bowl Drive project is expected to last about 10 months and will cost about $4.8 million.

Some of the new features that we can look forward to will be the addition of a sidewalks and lighting to Sun Bowl Drive and a roundabout at the Glory Road intersection.
