Being a working parent means you don't always have time to look for activities for your kids during the summer.  There are 3 great programs for kids and families being offered by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department to put on your family's calendar.

Trailblazers Outdoor Recreation Program

When:  June 10 to July 3, 2013

Where:  Chamizal National Park, 800 S. San Marcial St.

Keystone Heritage and Botanical Garden, 4222 Doniphan Dr.

Registration:  Now through June 7th

There are two summer camps for kids ages 8-17.  Activities will include short hikes, bird and bug identification, along with learning about native desert plants and wildlife habitats.

 

Midnight Basketball Registration

This is a free Midnight Basketball League open to boys and girls ages 12-17.  The program begins on June 14th and will end on August 16th.  Registration is now open and Volunteer Coaches are also needed. Games will be played on Friday nights from 9:00 p.m. – Midnight.  There are locations all around town.

 

Outdoor Adventure Camp

When:  July 19th – 20th 

Time:  Beginning 4 p.m. on the 19th with participants staying overnight and leaving the park by 10 a.m. on the 20th.

Registration:  Begins Monday, June 10

Where:  Memorial Park, Reserve Area, 3100 Copper Ave.

Camp spaces in the park will be on a first come – first served basis starting at 4:00 p.m. on July 19th. The camp has sold-out every year.  You can register online at elpasotexas.gov/parks. There is no minimum age, however all children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
