Looking to getaway this spring break for some fun, and outdoor excitement? Elephant Butte Lake is gorgeous and full of water!

According to the Sierra County Recreation & Tourism folks, Elephant Butte Lake’s water level is 4x fuller than it was last year.

Elephant Butte Lake is New Mexico's largest state park and is about 2 hours away from El Paso. The lake is an ideal spot for those who want to get away and enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, paddle boarding, boating, golfing and so much more.

Families, outdoor enthusiast, and college students can rent out equipment like pontoon boats, inner tubes, kayaks and even hire fishing guides.

The New Mexico State Parks Division even offers free boating safety classes throughout the state and online. State Park officials remind boaters to always wear a life jacket when out on the water, never boat under the influence, and be aware of weather conditions. For more information, call 888-NMPARKS.

In addition to the option of camping along the shoreline at Elephant Butte Lake, the City of Elephant Butte and neighboring Truth or Consequences offer reasonably priced accommodations and, at some locations, access to hot springs soaks.

Have a fun and safe spring break!
