Sharknado And Other WTF Movies

Sharknado premiered on the Syfy Channel this past week and from what I heard the movie was so bad in an entertaining sort of way that it nearly broke the internet.

Just in case the title wasn’t clear enough, or you don’t want to click on the trailer I’ve embedded, this movie is about a tornado filled with sharks.

It got me thinking of some of the more WTF movies I’ve seen over the years.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Movies I thought would be good but ended up upsetting me:

“Super Mario Bros.” (1993) – I was 12 when this movie came out. I thought something based on a video game couldn’t go wrong.

“Street Fighter” (1994) – See above.

“Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” (2009) – I remember leaving the movies theater and telling my friend, “This movie makes the first 2 look like Oscar contenders.”

Just turn off your brain and enjoy:

“The Toxic Avenger” (1984) – The first super-hero born out of nuclear waste!

“Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!” (1978) – I was afraid of ketchup for a while after seeing this movie.

The Godfather of WTF Movies:

“Troll 2″ (1990) – This is widely considered the best bad movie ever made. By the way, don’t let the title fool you, the movie is about goblins and there is not a single troll in it.
