Way to go San Eli! The boys soccer team’s first trip to the UIL state tournament ended with them hoisting the 4A State Championship trophy.

The Eagles never trailed in their 4 – 2 defeat of Liberty Hill, and only a half-hour weather delay in the second half could stop the team’s momentum that started with a score by Edwin Marquez in the 21st minute. The team would find the net three more times off the feet of Abraham Escareño, Francisco Ruiz, and Marcos Utajara.

Although it’s the soccer programs first state title, it’s the second State Championship in San Elizario High School history. The boy cross country team was crowned the best in Texas last year.
