Sacred Heart Parish Will Lead a Procession Honoring Residents of Durangito in Downtown EP
Sacred Heart Parish will come together in prayer with residents of Durangito in downtown El Paso, before the imminent demolition of their neighborhood. .
Durangito residents are facing a mass demolition of their historic neighborhood therefore, Fr. Rafael García, S.J., of Sacred Heart Parish (Sagrado Corazón Catholic Church) will be leading a procession to honor the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in solidarity with the community of Durangito. Participants will walk around the neighborhood praying the rosary and reflecting on Scripture asking for protection of the impacted residents as they face evictions due to the looming threat of demolition.
- Procession will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Firemen’s Memorial Park located at 316 W. Overland and continue through the neighborhood.
- There will also be a special performance by matachines, Danza del Sagrado Corazón
