The summertime nirvana for classic film lovers runs from August 4 - 14. This is the world’s largest classic film festival and will feature more than 90 movies and nearly 150 events. There will be special editions of the original Star Wars trilogy, Rocky, Giant, The Music Man and Young Frankenstein.

'Giant' will be screened at 6 p.m., August 6. The exhibit, A ‘Giant’ Story: When Hollywood Came to West Texas', opens July 28 at the El Paso Museum of History). 'The Man Who Fell to Earth', an amazing film with the late, great David Bowie will be screened at 9 p.m., August 13. Candy Clark, who co-starred in the film, will talk about David Bowie and filming in New Mexico before the screening.

Silent film enthusiasts can hear organist Walter Strony accompanying silent short films by Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, and Laurel and Hardy during the free Plaza Days at 11 a.m. August 4, and the 1929 version of the 1925 silent classic The Phantom of the Opera at 4 p.m. August 7. The 1920 German silent horror classic 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' will be even more amazing by electric cellist Gideon Freudmann who will accompany the film. It will be screened 4 p.m. August 13.
