Plans in the Works for New Downtown Marriott Hotel
Southwest University Park will be getting a new neighbor in the near future. According to published reports, plans for a hotel catty-corner to the ballpark are in the works.
The $18-million hotel will be built across the street from the El Paso Scottish Rite Temple on the parcel of land where the building that housed the Texas Workforce Commission once stood.
The property was bought from the state by El Paso businessman Jim Scherr in March of 2015, and the building was torn down soon after.
As first reported by El Paso Inc., the planned 151 room multi-floor hotel will be named the Courtyard El Paso Downtown – Convention Center Hotel.
For a more comprehensive look at the project, which is still in the very early stages and at least a couple of years away from becoming a reality, check out the article on the El Paso Inc. website.
