You would think that because El Paso is in the middle of a desert there wouldn’t be any ice-skating options. But there are actually two places embracing the classic winter tradition; the Sierra Providence Event Center, and the Fountains at Farah shopping center.

The Sierra Providence Event Center is home to the El Paso Rhinos Junior League hockey team, and the area’s largest public ice skating rink. It’s not only a place to ice skate, it also offers skating and hockey lessons for all age groups. No matter what the weather is outside, it’s always chilly indoors so if you go dress warmly.

The Fountains of Farah’s “Ice Pond” is an outdoor rink with a capacity of about 175 skaters. While not as quite as big as the Event Center, the setting is more scenic and features restaurants and shops, literally steps away.
