Patty Campos Interviews Stormy – The El Paso Zoo Tweeting Zebra!
Ever since I found Stormy on twitter we have pretty much been bff’s! I had to meet her in person and get the low down on this tweeting fabulous zebra!
When I arrived at the El Paso Zoo I was greeted by Karla, one of Stormy’s trainers. She was so cool! If she was cool I could only imagine how awesome Stormy was. Stormy reminds me of myself in this zoo of a world and I had to meet her! It was bff’s at first site! Stormy is so beautiful in person! Here is a quick selfie we snapped!
So embarrassing I almost wore the same thing as Stormy! Anywho, I got to sit down with Stormy and ask some in depth questions…
“I was born at the El Paso Zoo on a “stormy” night, June 29th, 2010. Dulce is my mom, who I still live with. (Hey, I don’t pay rent!)”
”Like every typical adolescent girl, I BEGGED and BEGGED for a cell phone!! Finally I convinced the zoo management that the world would LOVE to hear about life from my point of view. It’s a great way to prove to the world that we zebras are fun, sassy, and full of personality.”
” Well, let me tell you, I’m not short of suitors, that’s for sure! Cisco the Burro REALLY, REALLY likes me…but I’m just not that into him. He’s in “the friend zone”. There is this strapping Russian boy, Vladimir. He’s a Prezwalski’s Horse, and he is FINE!! I guess you could say, “It’s complicated”. Language barrier and all.”
” I really like these alfalfa cubes that my keepers give me during our training sessions. I’ll do just about anything for those. My mouth waters just thinking about them. MMMM!”
”Well, I tell you…it can be difficult!! It’s kinda like “Real Housewives of the Savannah” sometimes. One day we’re best friends, and the next we’re trying to rip out each other’s hair extensions. But we are like a sorority, and when it comes down to it we all love each other very much.”
”Ever since I saw “Clash of the Titans” I have been IN LOVE with Pegasus. He may be a unicorn, but he is still one cool equine! So, I would say I would want to be able to fly.”
”Have you ever seen Harness Racing, where the horse pulls the guy in the little cart? Yeah, I wanna be the girl in the cart.”
”Technically I have black skin and my fur comes in both black and white. The stripe pattern is great in the wild to confuse predators like lions, hyenas, and even flies. Here at the zoo, the pattern is great for slimming waists, turning heads and being fabulous.”
”Every holiday season, me and my girls celebrate just like humans do: We eat. We get some really cool seasonal foods, like pumpkins, squash, and corn. Once our keepers have left for the night we let loose and have a dance party. We keep those gazelles next door up all night long! LOL!”
