Parking Information For El Paso Chihuahuas Opening Day

Opening Day at the Southwest University Park for the first El Paso Chihuahua baseball game is April 28, and the City of El Paso is talking about parking and getting around downtown that day. Because it is going to be a historic day, City officials say, leave for the ballpark early, use public transportation if you can, and expect there to be delays.

Southwest University Park will open at 5 p.m., and the game will kick off at 7:05 p.m. The game is sold out, and that means over nine thousand people will be streaming into downtown. It’s pretty certain that there will be more than one person in each car going to the game, but there will still be hundreds of vehicles jockeying for the best parking spots.

The TxDot highway digital message boards near downtown will help direct the public.

The City has a list of the streets that are preferred routes into downtown. They are:

Kansas
Main
Missiouri
Mesa
Oregon
Paisano
San Antonio
Santa Fe
Texas
Wyoming
Yandell

The preferred Routes out of downtown are:

Durango
Franklin
Kansas
Mesa

There will be road closures:

There are several parking garages, parking lots and metered parking spots throughout Downtown. See the map here.
