President Obama Officially Designates New Mexico Mountains a National Monument

Its official; New Mexico's Organ Mountains are America's newest national monument. President Obama officially designated the area The Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument yesterday.

The declaration means nearly a half million acres of land will be protected from development. You can watch our president talk about the land and sign the declaration HERE.

The picturesque mountains are America's 109th national monument, and New Mexico's 14th, joining White Sands, the Gila Cliff Dwellings, the Aztec Ruins and 11 others.
