Social media has given millions of people all over the world the ability to be heard in a way never before possible. It’s also given complete idiots a platform to put their stupidity on full display.

I present to you Clifford Gibson from Odessa, Texas. This super genius has found a way to piss off the world of motorcycle enthusiasts via Facebook by simply not giving a damn. Yes, he’s a special kind of stupid.

As you can see from the post taken from his now deactivated account, he apparently would just as soon run you down as let you pass on your bike. Guys like this are the reason that Trey Sralla, co-owner of Eddie Hill’s Fun Cycles in Wichita Falls and co-host of ‘Texoma Weekend’ on NewsTalk 1290, constantly reminds his fellow bikers: ‘you have to ride with your head on a swivel’. Safety is job number one on two wheels. Motorists have to be extra aware, but this jerk is telling the world he could care less!

According to The Motley Fool, there are over 8 million registered motorcycles in the U.S.  Texas ranked third in the U.S. in 2012. Contrary to what Clifford Gibson may wish to believe, not only do these bikes and their owners have a right to the road, he has a responsibility to look out for them. And no, silly hate monger, they are not 'toys'. Yes, many guys and gals out there buy bikes and trikes for recreational purposes. But thousands of Americans ride every day. Some ride daily because it's their primary mode of transportation, some because they just love it and others ride daily for the great fuel economy.

We have a moral, ethical and legal obligation to drive safely and defensively. According to forcardrivers.com, more than half of all fatal motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle. Most of the time, the motorist is the one at fault. For the most part these are nothing but tragic accidents. Factor in a hate monger like Gibson and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Just what causes someone to even think this way much less offer up what amounts to an outright online threat? We may never know for certain, but motorcyclists, particularly in the Odessa area, should be on the alert for Clifford Gibson.
