Viva! El Paso is back.

The 2017 season of the locally produced show that chronicles the 400 year history and cultural evolution of El Paso and the border region through song and dance gets underway this Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.

The outdoor extravaganza will celebrate its 40th year with performances every Friday and Saturday evening through July 29. The July 21 and 22 shows will be in Spanish.

Showtime for all performances is 8 p.m. at the majestic McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater.

This year’s production will again feature a refreshed script by Tony-Award winning El Paso playwright Marty Martin, live mariachis, and new music written specifically for the show by acclaimed El Paso musicians Jim Ward and Gabriel Gonzalez. Its most popular songs and elements from its decades-long past remain in place.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children ages 2-12, seniors 65 and older and military with a valid ID, and can be purchased at the Plaza Theatre Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, or online at ticketmaster.com.
