New Mexico State Police Welcome First Woman Motorcycle Officer

After almost 80 years of no women on the team, the New Mexico State police Motorcycle divisions are welcoming their first female onto the force.

Officer Vanessa Martinez will be the first woman in the history of the division, and it has been a long time coming. Officer Martinez was worried at first that she wouldn’t make the force, but she completed and passed all the tests and has met all of the qualifications.

She is hoping to be a role model for girls everywhere when they see her on her bike. Martinez started working with the division this summer and they have been established since 1935.
