Arturo Portillo says he's seen these lights in the night sky several times. Another person showed us similar video, taken just last night at the different location. They both say the lights are in a triangular shape, blink on and off and hover around. What do you think it is?

Many El Pasoans are still baffled by a grouping of mysterious lights seen hovering in the sky this past Wednesday evening.

Newschannel 9 was the first to report on the similar videos taken the same night at separate locations. Both show the almost identical three-light pattern hovering, ascending, descending, and moving around.

The TV station spoke with an unnamed Fort Bliss official who indicated they were conducting a training exercise that night and believed the video could be of flares or illumination rounds, which the military uses to mark targets and/or light the area beneath them.

The video below of illumination rounds lighting the night sky in much the same fashion makes a pretty good case for that being exactly what those mysterious lights were.

But, hey, who knows? Maybe E.T. was paying us a visit. Like the tagline used in the majority of "The X-Files" episodes used to say, "the truth is out there."
