The mugshot of an ex-El Paso police officer who stands accused of causing the death of his 11 month old son has been released.

27-year-old Raymond Licon Jr. is facing a Criminal Negligent Homicide charge in connection with the drowning death of his son. His mugshot was released today. Licon Jr. was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond. He bonded out the same day he was arrested.

The grandfather of the little boy says Licon Jr. left the boy in the bathtub in his home because he was arguing with the boy's mother. The two are in the process of divorcing. The grandfather said his daughter is distraught over the loss of her son. He also said that he is angry that it took so long for EPPD to arrest Licon Jr.

In the original press release about the arrest of Licon Jr., EPPD said that he had been relieved of duty, which does not mean he has been fired. KVIA spoke to EPPD and they said that Licon Jr. has been stripped of his police powers, but it has not been determined if he still employed with the department as a civilian or if he has been suspended.
