Mike’s the Stupid News – Doctor Tells Patient Her Back Pain is from ‘Ghetto Booty’
Terry Ragland of Jackson, Tennessee is ticked off at a doctor for using an offensive term while giving her a diagnosis. Ragland went to see a specialist recently about a severe pain in her lower back. It turned out she had lumbar lordosis, which is a curvature of the lower spine that causes a lot of pain, and makes your butt stick way out. But that's not how the doctor explained it to her. He told her she had a case of, quote, “ghetto booty”.
Terry complained to a local TV station who reached out to Dr. Timothy Sweo for comment. Dr. Sweo not only defended his use of the phrase, he told the news station he doesn’t understand why Terry is so upset. Quote, "I think I do understand why her feelings were hurt but I don’t understand what’s offensive about it." He added he was just trying put it in words she could understand. Oh no he didn't!
Terry took offense to that, telling Newschannel 3 the doctor was basically saying he thought she was too stupid to understand the real diagnosis. She has since filed a formal complaint against Sweo with the Tennessee Department of Health. Sweo has sworn off using 'ghetto booty' and from now on will refer to it as "ghetto honky tonk badonka donk." Okay, I made that last part up.
