MIKE'S BLAH BLAH BLOG - MEMORIAL DAY: According to a new survey by the National World War II Museum, 80 percent of Americans admit to having little or some knowledge of the reason behind the Memorial Day observance.

While most everyone thinks of three days of barbeques and picnics and a day off from work and school, there's more going on here. So here's a refresher course on what this weekend is all about:

In short, Memorial Day - originally called Decoration Day - is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. How one chooses to pay tribute can be anything from displaying an American flag to visiting a war memorial site or military cemetery.
