If you're a parent, chances are you drive a mini-van or SUV.  They are the vehicle of choice for so many families, but there is a huge recall that you need to know about.

The vehicles affected include 2001 and 2002 Ford Escape compact SUV, and the 2004 and 2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterrey mini-vans.

The problem is a part that could cause a sudden loss of power, and possibly lead to a crash.  The good news is the part can be replaced by dealers at no cost to the owner of the vehicle.

The number to call if you have one of these vehicles is the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 866-436-7332, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at
888-327-4236.
