Attention El Paso area “lambs,” Mariah Carey is headed to Las Vegas as the latest pop diva to get a residency there. Mariah will be filling in at the Colosseum at Caesars for Celine Dion, who's taking time off to care for her ailing husband.

The residency kicks off on May 6, with additional shows May 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 23 and 24, and July 8, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 25, and 26. Carey revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that the show was inspired by her "#1's" greatest hits album and that she'll be performing all 18 of them, as well as some fan favorites.

Good for Mimi. I’ve been saying for years she needed to seriously consider Vegas. Her new stuff just wasn’t hitting anymore, and while those of us who grew up with her music consider her an icon, she’s just not that relevant to kids today. Sin City is the perfect place for an oldies act like her. Let’s hope the most painful part of her divorce from Nick Cannon is over and paying customers won't get a repeat of that awful performance at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting in early December.

Tickets  for "Mariah's #1's" range from $55 to $250 apiece, and are on sale now: you can purchase them at TheColosseum.com or by calling 866-320-9763.
