Maria Garcia’s Official KVIA Photo: Too Provocative?

UPDATE: 7 Listens! Maria Garcia’s picture has been updated on KVIA.com from the one below to this one.

First, I’d like to offer my congratulations to KVIA reporter Maria Garcia for getting the bump up to 4p.m. news anchor. She’ll be taking over the shift currently being occupied by Celina Avila after Avila departs to California in a few weeks for family reasons. I’ve always liked Garcia’s reporting style, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes. But now that she’s climbed up a rung on the TV News ladder maybe KVIA should consider replacing her official web photo with one more appropriate for a daily news anchor. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good come-hither look as much as the next guy, but professional it’s not. I’m just sayin’. But what do you think — Maria Garcia’s Offical KVIA photo: too provocative given her profession? Here’s the rest of the official crew photos for comparisons sake.

Speaking of KVIA, congratulations also go out to Stephanie Valle. She’s back to work from maternity leave after giving birth this past September to her second child, a boy she and her husband named Alexander Scott. Que cute!

One last TV News note: former Newschannel 9 alum and Ysleta High grad ER-EE-KAA KAASTEEEEOO (Erika Castillo) will be returning to El Paso to take over Hema Mullur’s old gig on KFOX 14. Her start date is December 5. Welcome back, homegirl.
