One of the great traditions of Mardi Gras is to collect the colored beads, which represent what royalty wears. The colors are purple for  justice, green for faith, and gold for power. It is considered good luck if you catch the beads when thrown through the air. Is is bad luck if you pick up the beads from the floor..!!
