Las Cruces Police are on the hunt for a Las Cruces man who discharged a BB gun striking a 16-month-old boy in the eye.

Lorenzo Ordaz, 30, of Dona Ana Road, is being sought after a toddler was struck in the eye with a BB from his gun, causing permanent damage. Police reports state that they were dispatched to the 2200 block of Dona Ana Road after a report of the injury. The child was airlifted to El Paso Children’s Hospital, where medical professionals told detectives the child’s eye was severely damaged and there is little to no chance of him regaining use of it.

Ordaz fled the scene before police got there, and now he is wanted. Ordaz, 30, is Hispanic, 5'7" and has brown hair and brown eyes. If you know of his whereabouts, you are asked to call police immediately and they also remind the public that harboring a wanted fugitive is a felony.
