Downtown traffic is about to get a little tougher to deal with. A major intersection is going to close this morning for three months.

Kansas Street between Main and Franklin will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, for the next three months. The bridge decks over the Bataan Memorial Trainway railroad tracks are going to be replaced during that time. Officials say the work needed to be done, but that won't make dealing with the detours any easier for drivers.

The closure is in the area of the Artisan Hotel, so if that is part of your regular commute, you need to be ready to take a different route for the next few months.

If you use the Downtown exit from I-10 West, you can continue on Missouri Avenue and then turn south on Mesa. You can also use the border highway or get off at I-10 and Cotton. From there, take Texas into Downtown.
