New Mexico apparently isn’t a state anymore; at least not to New York Times Magazine. The publication had many New Mexicans steaming in reaction to its cover that identified the area between Texas and Arizona as simply "Mexico."

This isn’t the first time someone has confused the state of New Mexico with Mexico the country – it happens all the time. However, you would think a magazine associated with a company as prestigious as The New York Times would know the difference. I guess this day and age it takes time for new information to get out -- you know, being that New Mexico has only been a state since 1912.
