Madame Tussauds Hollywood Unveils Selena Quintanilla in Wax
“The Queen of Tejano Music” gets her due.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood unveiled its Selena Quintanilla wax figure yesterday (August 30) during a rooftop celebration timed to coincide with the 21st anniversary of her fifth and final studio album, Dreaming of You.
The beloved Tejano music legend's sculpture is dressed in a recreated stage look from Selena’s concert at Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi, Texas on Feb 7, 1993. Her performance in front of a hometown crowd of 3,000 fans was recorded and later released as an album. Selena Live! was awarded the Grammy for best Mexican-American album the following year.
Selena's sister Suzette Arriaga, brother A.B. Quintanilla, and husband Chris Perez were among the hundreds who turned out to pose with the lifelike wax figure and celebrate The Queen of Tejano Music's legacy.
