El Paso locals, The Chamanas and Los Visonaries will come together for one night featuring local music and art when Portugal The Man performs at the Plaza Theatre on Friday, October 13, 2017.

I had a chance to sit down with both The Chamanas and how they came to open up for Portugal The Man and Los Visionaries and their plans to bring their art to life at the concert.

The Chamanas will be opening up for Portugal The Man when they perform at the Plaza Theatre come October 13th. The Chamanas met Portugal The Man when both bands were recording out at Sonic Ranch recording studios and formed a friendship that prompted a request from Portugal The Man to have The Chamanas record two of their songs in Spanish, Feel It Still and Purple Yellow Red and Blue  in hopes that the music would impact and unify all people. Since then, The Chamanas who hail from El Paso have been busy touring, recording and making their own path in the music scene, including a 2016 Latin Grammy nomination.

Meanwhile, Los Visionaries are a local El Paso / Juarez art collaborative group that incorporates all forms of art into their projects including, graphic design, photography, street-art, videography, dance and even body painting. The group has been creating incredible art and murals across the city of El Paso including a most recent mural that is still on display at the El Paso Convention and Performing Arts Center in downtown El Paso. On October 13th Los Visionaries will unveil a mural accompanied by a live dance element merging local art and music at the Portugal The Man concert outside the Plaza Theatre an hour before the show and an hour after.

Tune in to 93.1 KISS-FM for a chance to win free tickets to the show and also qualify for a chance to be invited to KISS-FM’s Private Acoustic Performance by Portugal The Man including lunch, meet and greet and a photo opportunity.
