You know Cheech Marin as one half of the legendary comic duo, Cheech and Chong, but what you might not know is he is a huge collector of Chicano art. This morning during the 9 o’clock hour, we’ll be talking with Cheech about an art show he is in El Paso to promote. You can also check out Cheech live and in person this afternoon at the El Paso Museum of Art.

‘Gaspar Enriquez: Metaphors of El Barrio’ will be at the El Paso Museum of Art through May 11th. Cheech says he first started collecting Enriquez’s art because he loved his airbrushing technique. He also says he’s drawn to Enriquez’s work because “he’s painting the people from his neighborhood – that’s one of the most important aspects.”

Cheech will be speaking about Enriquez’s art, and the fact that the El Paso Museum of Art is one of only a few museum’s in America that has a Chicano art collection.
