The Weather Channel recently released a list of the top 10 most windy cities in the US and I thought, "I wonder how high El Paso is." You might be as shocked as I was to find out we didn't make the list at all, but a few other Texas cities did.

A quick poll of my coworkers also produced the same question -- How did we not make this list?! Using average annual wind speed data from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center, The Weather Channel compiled a list of the windiest cities with at least 100,000 people. Here's what they came up with:

10. Buffalo, NY
9. Abilene, TX
8. Corpus Christi, TX
7. Oklahoma City, OK (tied)
7. Fargo, ND (tied)
7.. Wichita, KS (tied
4. Boston, MA
3. Lubbock, TX
2. Rochester, MN
1. Amarillo, TX

How's that for crazy? The average wind speed in Amarillo is 13.6 miles per hour. I guess science wins this one, but we still can't believe we're not even in the top 10. To be fair, it's only windy part of the year, but when it blows, IT BLOWS!
