The holiday lights at Ascarate Park will glow again this Christmas season. Lights on the Lake returns to the county park this Saturday, December 9, 2017.

Opening night festivities will include a lighting ceremony, entertainment, food trucks, and a free lakeside showing of the Christmas classic A Christmas Story on the largest inflatable screen in El Paso.

Not only are all the activities and entertainment free, the county is even going to waive the parking and entrance fee for the evening.

Lights on the Lake gets underway at 5 p.m. with The Jingle Bell Jog. The 1.5 mile "jog" around the lake is open to all ages and abilities, as well as pets. You can jog, run, walk, stroll, amble, skip, hop -- whatever you feel up to that night because it's all about having fun. In fact, the wearing of festive holiday sweaters and Christmassy outfits is highly encouraged.

The lighting ceremony will follow at 6 p.m. and include the arrival of Santa and his elves on the festively decorated Santa Ship float. The evening will conclude with The Christmas Story at approximately 7 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs if you plan to stay.
