The holiday lights at Ascarate Park will glow again this Christmas season.

The 3rd annual Lights on the Lake at Ascarate Park returns to the County park Saturday, December 9, 2017.

This year's festivities will include a lighting ceremony, entertainment, food trucks, and a free lakeside showing of the Christmas classic The Christmas Story on "the largest inflatable screen in the city."

Lights on the Lake will get underway at 5 p.m. with the Jingle Bell Jog. The 1.5 mile "jog" will be open to all ages and abilities, as well as pets. You can jog, run, walk, stroll, amble, skip, hop -- whatever you feel up to that night.

The lighting ceremony will follow at 6 p.m. and include the arrival of Santa and his elves on the festively decorated Santa Ship float. The evening will conclude with The Christmas Story at approximately 7 p.m.

Not only will the event be free, the county is also going to waive the parking fee for the evening.

So get your phone out and program the date into your calendar so you don't forget; Saturday, Dec. 9. It's going to be a really fun night for the whole family!
