One of west El Paso's more well-known dive bars served its last beer this past weekend.

Erin's on North Mesa closed suddenly on Sunday (1/29), presumabley for good this time.

The long-time hang out known for its cheap beer and karaoke nights tried to make a go of it after the bar's owner, Benny Rivera, announced last June he was retiring from the business after 25 years.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page less than a week later, the bar wrote it was "not ready to say goodbye just yet" and announced it would stay open under new management. Despite a few changes and some renovations, efforts to "save Erin's" did not work out.

When asked on Facebook why it was closing, the bar replied, "Alot of different things."
