Las Cruces Man Arrested for Sexual Contact with 12-Year-Old Girl

Police made the arrest of a Las Cruces man suspected of having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl.

Josue Ortizornelas, 28, is being charged with one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor, which is a third-degree felony. Authorities learned that Ortizornelas was in a relationship with the girl’s mother, and lived with her and her children. When the girl’s mother was at work and after she had went to sleep, Ortizornelas got in bed with the girl and touched her inappropriately.

The girl’s mother was told about the incident on Monday and filed a report with police immediately. Ortizornelas was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and has since been released on a $5,000 bond.
