Newschannel 9’s main news anchor Adrienne Alvarez was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after allegedly getting into a physical confrontation with her husband early Thursday morning.

Details of the confrontation have not been released but unconfirmed reports allege the altercation took place outside of their home and that it was neighbors who called police. Officers investigating the incident took her into custody after determining that Alvarez was the primary aggressor.

She was arrested on suspicion of battery against a member of a household, booked, and released from the Doña Ana County Detention Center hours later after posting a $1,000 bond. According to New Mexico state law, “a person who intentionally touches or applies force to a household member commits the crime of battery against a household member, a misdemeanor.” Petty misdemeanors are punishable by up to six months in jail, a fine of up to $500, or both.
