Kids in El Paso can Fish for Free This Saturday at Ascarate Lake

If you're looking to spend some quiet bonding time with your child, consider taking him (or her) to the Kid's Fish Derby at Ascarate Park.

The Ascarate Fishing Club is hosting the fishing event for kids ages 3 - 16 this Saturday, Oct. 12 -- and a lack of fishing experience or gear isn't a problem, either.

Ascarate Fishing Club members will happily teach kids fishing basics, and fishing poles will be available for children to use during the event. You will need to bring your license to check out a pole.

Just take along a cap, sun screen, bug spray, water, and a camping chair or two and you're all set.

Although the Kid Fish Derby is a free event, there will be a $2 per vehicle fee to enter the park. For more information visit the Ascarate Fishing Club on Facebook.
