Kelly Clarkson took the stage at the 2013 Grammys, dressed in black, singing a soulful and heartfelt medley of 'Tennessee Waltz' and 'You Make Feel (Like a Natural Woman.)'

The singer, who may we remind you was the very first 'American Idol' and one of the most successful in the program's history, showed us why she has endured well past the premise of the series in which she first attained her fame. It's that powerful, husky, smoky and room-filling voice of hers. To borrow a phrase from 'Idol' judges, she could sing the phone book or a menu and make it sound good. There's tons of life and soul in Clarkson's voice, and it was never more obvious than when she took the stage at Music's Biggest Night.

Clarkson soared through 'Tennessee Waltz' at first, before delivering a bit of a rock 'n' roll version of 'You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman),' thanks to the guitar lick that followed her voice.

Clarkson, who was wearing her wavy locks in a brighter blond shade than we are used to seeing her sport, also reminded us that America made the right choice all the way back in 2002 when it anointed her an 'Idol.'
