Katy Perry Is Taking a Break From Music

With less than two weeks before her new movie premieres, Katy Perry is reportedly taking a break from her career.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 27-year-old star is looking to properly recover from the dissolution of her marriage to comedian Russell Brand. “I need to let my heart heal,” she said.

Although Perry is dating Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Aykroyd, she has said that she doesn’t regret her relationship with her ex. “Everybody asks me if I regret something, they ask me if it’s going to be that one moment … Actually it’s really a lesson learned and it’s super valuable, I could not buy this lesson,” she said. “And I apply it to my life, I learn and a lot of the time, I get really good material for my songs.”

Admitting that she “didn’t want to hide” the divorce, fans will get a glimpse of Perry’s perspective on the separation from Brand in her soon-to-be-released film, ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me.’

 “If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn’t at all mentioned like it never happened, you’d be like, ‘Eh, this is weird, what is she trying to hide?’ I don’t like to hide.”

‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ opens in theaters on July 5.
