Hate crying when you have to cut an onion. A Japanese company think they have the remedy to the issue!

Japanese food company House Food Group claimed that they have created a less pungent onion that can dry your tears. According to the Wall Street Journal, researchers have been working on this for over a decade now, and have finally come up with an onion with enzymes that produce extremely low compounds of what causes you to tear up. They have been looking at the chemistry of the onions, to figure out exactly what causes people to produce tears when cutting open an onion.

If this sounds far-fetched, it's not. House Foods Group won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 for Chemistry for their discovery of the process of how onion bring tears to your eyes. Their testers even said that the new onion left less of a smell on the cook's hand, and the eaters didn't have such a strong odor on their breath afterwards.

Before you run out to the supermarket to purchase this awesome, new onion, we have some bad news. The company said they have no immediate plans to release this onion commercially.
