Summer time in El Paso is also Kermes time in El Paso.

From now through the end of September, it's one weekend outdoor fund raiser after another at a Catholic church near you. (A "kermes," in case you don't know, is what we call a church bazaar around here.)

And that means Loteria, corn in a cup, and homemade, just-like-grandma-makes tacos and gorditas. Heck, more often than not you'll find a chain-gang of grandmothers making the food on-site. (That's how you know you've found a good one!)

Here's where you can get your loteria and gorditas fix for the rest of the summer.
